Roween passed away Monday, December 17, 2012 at Riverview Health Services, Flandreau. Roween was born June 23, 1933 in Elkton to Louis and Lillian (Engel) Heesch. She received her education in Elkton graduating from Elkton High School in 1951. She attended nursing school at Anchor Hospital in St. Paul, MN. After graduating from nursing school Roween married Jim Cameron on June 4, 1955 in Elkton. They lived in the Twin Cities and bought a farm near New Market, MN. In 1971 Roween and Jim bought a farm near Elkton and she worked as a nurse. They bought the Elkton Rest Home in 1978 and she ran it until 1992 and then she worked at Riverview Manor in Flandreau until retiring in 1995. Jim preceded her in death on October 26, 1997. Roween was a member of the United Parish of Elkton and the Red Hats. She enjoyed traveling and was a big fan of sports.
Grateful for having shared her life are four children: Denise (Brian) Taylor, Lake Benton, MN, Donald (Pam), Elkton, Craig (Selma) Burnsville, MN, Val (Mike) Knutson, Elkton, 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, three siblings, Lyle Heesch, Elkton, Bev (Jim) Ehret, Benson, MN, Chuck (JoAnn) Heesch, Elkton and son-in-law Marshall Janssen Jr., Elkton. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a daughter Carol and an infant sibling.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 2:00 pm at United Parish of Elkton. Visitation from 4:00 – 7:00 Friday at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Elkton, with a 7:00 pm prayer service.
